What is the Digital Switch Over?

The UK is shifting from analogue to digital phone networks, impacting various services, including personal alarms. By upgrading, you can ensure your alarm operates smoothly and remains reliable when you need it most.

What if we don't have Internet?

We recommend having internet for the Smartlife Alarm to work to it's full potential, but it isn't necessary as long as you have good mobile signal in your home.

When is this happening?

It is currently underway around the UK, going area by area. Unfortunately we will not be informed when our members are switched over, we recommend getting in touch with your telephone provider and they should be able to keep you updated.

I have no internet or signal, can I still upgrade?

In good conscious we wouldn't upgrade anyone where the alarm is unable to function as it should. We recommend staying with the current alarm until their telephone has been switched over and they have an internet connection, and then to give us a call to arrange the upgrade.

Why is it more expensive if it isn't my fault that the phonelines are changing?

We know that the switchover can feel overwhelming, and it's beyond anyone's control. That's why we’re committed to absorbing as much of the cost as we can to provide our members with the opportunity to upgrade without delay. The slight increase in renewal costs reflects the enhanced benefits of our Smart Life system, which include:

Will I need new equipment?

How do I set up the upgraded alarm?

Don’t worry it’s not complex. Our digital alarms are simple to install and our team is available to guide you through the process.

When will my provider switch me?

While we haven’t received specific updates from the telephone suppliers about when your lines will be switched or if they already have you don’t have to wait to upgrade to our new and improved digital alarm. With just a couple of quick checks on our end before you order, your upgraded system will be ready to work for you right away. Why are you charging for this given that my telephone supplier isn’t?

Telephone suppliers have received funding to enhance the network, but it's their responsibility to ensure that the digital infrastructure is future-proof and reliable. They've already integrated these improvements into their financial plans, so you can trust that progress is being made. We’re also committed to our members, doing our best to absorb some of the costs to make this transition smoother for you. Together, we’re working towards a safer and more connected future.

Am I losing my landline altogether?

No, they simply changing the type of wiring coming into your house which should mean better quality calls and quicker connection rates.
